St Patrick's Festival
Birmingham's St Patrick's Festival of all things Irish starts on Friday 9th and runs to Saturday 17th with the highlight being the Parade on Sunday 11th through Digbeth.
Information on the festival appears to be spread over two websites which together seem to have all the information you need. stpatricksfestival.com looks to be the current one but doesn't have the events listed. You'll find them on stpatricksfestival.co.uk. I'm also assuming this map (pdf) of the route is for this year. Actually, their whole web presence is a bit of a mess. Here's hoping all the real effort has gone into the event itself.

Hi Pete, I was involved with the Festival team last year and built the original site (the green one that complies with accessibility standards) but the committee changed this year. After endless attempts to get in touch by myself and the chair from last year they went ahead and just launched their own site without any consultation (we were volunteering our time for free and had already built a CMS for the site). It doesn't really work, there are dead links and it just does not do anything for the festival. A great shame as it also looks like my constant offers of a free photographic team in the shape of the Birmingham Flickr group has also been ignored. I will be taking the elements of the old site that are still live down in the next few days, as I feel any marketing they use on the back of a system they have snubbed is a little out of order. Shame they also list the old web address on all marketing material too!
That all sounds quite painful. I've thrown them a nice email pointing out the embarrassment this is causing to the city.
Normally I'd say you should leave the old site up as it does have a use but I guess they need a kick up the arse.
I did not attend the festival this year (was working from home - blame Stef!) and would be interested to hear your feedback on how it went, if it felt anything like the one last year and if there was as much going on across the weekend.
